Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the most investigated eukaryotic microorganism This species has been the most commonly used yeast in aquaculture, particularly for its health stimulating effects in various cultured species. There are extensive studies about the use of yeast in aquaculture due to its nutritional value and its potential to modulate the growth and health of the aquatic animals.

Yeasts are a noble product to use in aquaculture (as a whole or as components/pieces) as supplements in animal feed because they are an emerging alternative ingredient because of their nutritional value and some of the bioactive compounds that they contain. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is the most investigated eukaryotic microorganism because this species has been intensely used in the food and alcoholic beverages industry, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry .

For sustainable aquaculture, environmentally friendly alternatives to control bacterial infections are needed and some options have been explored. The use of yeast probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics and parabiotics as an alternative to regular feed has been proved to stimulate good health, safeguard the gut against pathogenic microorganisms, and reduce inflammation. Thus, these compounds have improved the growth, immunity, and gut health of cultured species.

S.cerevisiae is a good immunostimulant for it heightens defensive responses. Yeast constitutes an emerging ingredient because it contains bioactive compounds.

Dosage: 2-4 kg dry yeast per 1 ton of feed. 1 kg per acre during pond preparation.

Count: Each 1 gram of Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) contain 20 billion (20 X 109) cfu/gm.
