Formaldehyde

( 0 out of 5 )

Formalin (aqueous solution of formaldehyde stabilized with methanol) is one of the most used disinfectants in aquaculture. Formaldehyde is used as a bath treatment to control parasitic infections on the external surfaces (skin, fin, gills) of fish. It is extremely effective against most protozoans as well as some larger parasites, such as monogeneans. It is not the preferred treatment for external bacterial or fungal infections on fish; however, it is used to control water mold (“fungi”) on fish eggs.

Benefits:
formaldehyde is one of the most used parasiticides in aquaculture. It is effective against most protozoans, monogeneans, and oomycetes. It can be used to kill parasites on fish gills, skin, fins, and eggs, although it cannot be used to treat internal infections.

Composition and storage:
The commercial formulation of formalin usually contains 37–40% formaldehyde and is stabilized with 10–15% methanol to prevent the formation of paraformaldehyde, a white precipitate known to be highly toxic to fish. Formalin treatments must also be kept in darkness and at temperatures above 4°C to prevent paraformaldehyde formation whilst in storage.

Application: Concentrated solution can be diluted 50–100 times before spraying on pond water.

Dosage: 1-2 lit. / Acre.

Caution: This product is for Aquatic animal use only, Not for Human consumption. Does not contain any Antibiotics/Hormones.
